Miss Pearl is all dolled up for her trip to the Santa Fe Opera to see Puccini’s “Tosca”. As a life long opera aficionado, Miss Pearl prefers attending the grand operas that evokes images of Italy's sun-drenched hills and romantic villas. She favors those with cats.
Her black moire taffeta face is hand enbroidered. Green eyes peer out, twinkling in anticipation.
Miss Pearl wears a cream colored vintage silk brocade and black moire faille Restoration coat that has puffed sleeves ending in cream colored Torchon Lace. The tall black vampire collar provides a dramatic background for her 1930’s watch earrings with salmon dangles. Filagree bracelets decorate both wrists and match the vintage Lithuanian watch pendant with Swarovski Crystals hanging from thick black gimp neckpiece. Her jacket may be worn open or closed.
Recycled rosary chain wraps around her neck and drapes down antique cream moire taffeta. Re-embroidered pearl-encrusted edging tops the hand-woven Japenase ikat cotton bodice echoing Pearl’s obsession with pearls.
Miss Pearl’s skirt is made from burnout black velvet with a sash of black satin fastened in the back with 3 pearl buttons. Recycled rosary chain circles her waist. Tucked underneath, her cream crepe de chine bottom is finished with Torchon lace edging that matches the lace on her cuffs.
Her legs are styled from antique cream moire taffeta. Heavily beaded black lace tops of her black moire taffeta boots. Bronzed metal filagree wraps around her ankles, flashing in the light as she settles into her seat and crosses her paws.
Stylish in her black and white ensemble, Miss Pearl holds her breath as the three chords open the Opera, setting the scene for what unfolds.
